What materials do you machine for aerospace components?

We machine aluminum 7075-T6/7475, titanium Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), Inconel 718, 17-4PH stainless steel, and PEEK. All aerospace materials are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates and are fully traceable from mill to finished part.

What tolerances can you hold on aerospace parts?

We hold ±0.005mm on critical features and ±0.01mm on general dimensions. Our Zeiss CMM provides full dimensional inspection with measurement reports per AS9102. For tight bore and fit tolerances, we use air gauging and Marposs in-process measurement.

Is your facility AS9100 or NADCAP certified?

Our facility operates under AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems. While we maintain NADCAP-certified partners for special processes (heat treat, surface treatment, NDT), we perform all primary machining in-house on our DMG MORI 5-axis and CNC turning centers.

Do you machine thin-wall aerospace housings?

Yes. We have extensive experience with thin-wall aluminum and titanium housings for avionics, sensors, and actuators. Our machining strategy uses a combination of roughing, stress relief, and finish passes with specialized soft jaws and vacuum fixturing to maintain wall thickness within ±0.05mm.

Can you supply First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102?

Absolutely. Every first-production run includes a complete AS9102 FAI report with dimensional measurements, material certificates, and process control documentation. We use a Zeiss CMM and our FAI reports are formatted per SAE AS9102 Rev C standards.

What surface treatments do you offer for aerospace parts?

We offer chromic acid anodizing (MIL-A-8625 Type I), sulfuric anodizing (Type II), hard anodizing (Type III), chemical conversion coating (MIL-DTL-5541), electroless nickel, titanium passivation, and various painting/primer systems. Our partners hold all relevant aerospace process certifications.

Aerospace CNC Machining — AS9100D, Materials & Tolerances

1. AS9100D Certification Required

Every aerospace CNC supplier must hold AS9100D certification. TruPart operates AS9100D-compliant processes with full lot traceability, FOD prevention, and configuration management for flight-critical parts.

2. Exotic Materials Are Standard Here

Aerospace components regularly use aluminum 7075-T6, titanium Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 718, 17-4PH stainless, and managing steel. These materials require specific tooling, speeds, and feeds.

3. Tolerances That Drive Performance

Flight-critical features often require ±0.005mm tolerances with true position ≤0.01mm. TruPart uses 5-axis DMG MORI machines and Zeiss CMM inspection to achieve aerospace-grade precision.

4. Surface Treatments per MIL Spec

Anodizing Type II and III, passivation, cadmium plating, and chemical film per MIL-DTL-5541 are common aerospace finishes. TruPart coordinates with Nadcap-approved coating partners.

5. First Article Inspection per AS9102

AS9102 first article inspection is mandatory for all new aerospace production parts. TruPart completes the full AS9102 FAI form with ballooned drawings and CMM data before production release.
